Jake Garfield’s work explores relationship between reality and fiction through printmaking. Mirrors, masks and pictures-within-pictures are recurring motifs in a body of work that blurs the distinction between the world of the artist, the world of an image and the meta-worlds within an image.
Garfield completed an MA in Printmaking at the Royal College of Art and a Post-Graduate Diploma from the Royal Drawing School. He has received the John Purcell Paper Award, Woolwich in 2020, the Printmaker’s Council Award in 2016, the Durham Wharf Award in 2015 and the Royal Drawing School Printmakers Prize in 2013.
