Sumi Perera: Habitat III

About the artist:

Sumi Perera is an interdisciplinary hybrid printmaker. She draws upon her background as an artist (MA Camberwell UAL 2004), doctor & scientist working in the east (UK) & west (Sri Lanka) to make interactive installations that often produce, sound, emit light & change in colour. HABITAT III a variable hybrid print, an etching, aquatint, embossing, monoprint & collage is part of an ongoing series. It reflects on the effects of urbanization and its detrimental effects on nature. Climate change influences ecosystems, altering the key habitat elements, that are critical to wildlife's survival & putting natural resources in jeopardy. 

Perera has exhibited internationally and received numerous awards for her work. She is in a number of public and private collections, including the Tate, Victoria and Albert Museum, Ashmolean Museum and the British Museum.
