Emerson Mayes graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University in Graphic Arts and has received the PCJ Drawing Award, Society of Wildlife Artists in 2013 and St Cuthbert’s Mill Printmaking Award in 2010.

This print is part of a larger ongoing body of work to depict every variety of bird seen in one year. Birds and their song have become backdrop to his daily life during pandemic. The result can be seen in these simple prints that capture fleets moments of quiet, solitude and peace – a rarity in troubling these times.

Mayes’ work is held in the National Trust and House of Lords collections
