Gemma Thompson is a multidisciplinary artist who works with drawing, printmaking and sound to record the sensory experience of place. She is particularly interested in using drawing to intuitively transcribe a sense or (intangible) feeling of place to reimagine sound as a physical presence.

Thompson is the lead guitarist of the band Savages and has been nominated for two Mercury Awards for song writing. Her artistic accolades include The Eaton Fund, Ruby and Will George Trust and Derby Print Open Award Winner, all received in 2020.

Thompson completed The Drawing Year at the Royal Drawing School in 2018 – 2019.
