About the artist:

Nigel Hall RA b. 1943 Bristol.
Lives and works in London.

Nigel Hall is an important British sculptor based in London.  Active since the late 1970s, his precise formal geometries can be found in over 80 public collections worldwide including Kettles Yard, Cambridge and Tate.  Drawing is important to Hall, not only as an expressive medium for ideas in its own right but also as a way of studying form and line.  These studies often take the form of sketches and notes culled from his extensive travels. His works are held in over 60 public collections worldwide including Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge.

Nigel and Kip first worked together in 2018 on two editions ‘Fire’ and ‘Ice’ and in 2019 went on to produce the important portfolio ’12 Images, 12 Poems’ with poet and writer Andrew Lambirth from which ‘January’ on show here is taken.  Showing this portfolio at Fen Ditton Gallery in 2019 began the working relationship between the gallery and Kip.
