Katharine Coleman b. 1949 studied geography at Cambridge University and has a strong interest in botany and soils.  A keen gardener all her adult life, drawing plants became an interest in school which was developed when she studied drill, point and copper wheel-engraving on glass with the late Peter Dreiser at Morley College in the 1980s.   Since then she has become an acknowledged master glass engraver working on double layer lead crystal forms usually blown to her specification by Potter Morgan glass which make full use of the reflective and refractive qualities of the medium.  Works are in the V & A and many other public and private collections.

“The beauty to be found in the ordinary has been a constant theme in my work. I first visited Japan in 2004 and am still inspired by the country and people that seem to have the beauty of the ordinary at the heart of their culture.“
